Top Selling BEVs in China 2025–2026: Which Ones Fit Middle East & Central Asia?

China's BEV market did 7.877 million retail units in 2025, up 24.4% YoY according to CPCA. BYD finally knocked Tesla off the global BEV throne — 2.257M deliveries vs Tesla's 1.636M.

But here's the thing buyers from Dubai, Riyadh, Almaty, and Cairo keep asking at our Guangzhou showroom:

"This Geely Xingyuan sold 465,000 units in China last year. Should I put 20 containers on it?"

Short answer — not every China best-seller belongs on a GCC boat. Some are pure domestic plays (micro EVs for Chengdu delivery guys, not for 50°C desert runs). Others — Xiaomi SU7, BYD Seal, Zeekr 7X, Fangchengbao Titanium 3 — are the ones actually landing in UAE, Saudi, Kazakhstan right now.

China BEV Top 10 by Sales — 2025 Full Year vs 2026 Q1 Trend

2026 Q1 update: Geely Xingyuan still #1 (~130.9k Jan–May), Xiaomi YU7 and Li Auto i6 (pure-electric, 98,900 units Jan–May) are the new variables. Tesla Model Y holding #2 in Q1.

The "Importer Filter" — Not All Best-Sellers Travel Well

We split the list into three buckets based on what we see walking buyers through the Guangzhou floor.

Bucket 1: Stays in China (or only works for very specific niches)

• Geely Xingyuan, Wuling MINIEV, Changan Lumin, Geely Panda — A0/micro class, <100k RMB, made for Chinese Tier-2 city commuting. Great car, wrong boat. Range 300–480 km CLTC but no GCC heat kit as standard, tiny footprint doesn't fit Gulf highway expectations, resale in Riyadh/Dubai will be painful. 

• One exception: North Africa urban fleets — Egypt Cairo ride-hailing, Morocco Casablanca last-mile. If that's your lane, MINIEV / Xingyuan can work. Not for UAE/KSA/Central Asia.

Bucket 2: Domestic hit, export emerging — test before you bet

• BYD Seagull / Yuan UP — Seagull is killing it as taxi/rideshare fleet in Egypt and parts of Uzbekistan (cheap, Blade Battery, easy parts). Yuan UP works for Central Asian small SUV demand. Not premium enough for Gulf showrooms, but fleet guys should look.

• Xpeng MONA M03 — 175k units in China, but overseas rollout still early. Good spec sheet, wait for GCC build confirmation.

  
  

Bucket 3: China best-seller AND Gulf/Central Asia ready — these are the containers moving now

GCC heat kit matters. Insist on battery liquid thermal management, cabin pre-cool, desert dust sealing. BYD, Zeekr, XPeng, Xiaomi all produce GCC-suitable builds in 2026.

1. Xiaomi SU7 — 258k units in 2025, first full delivery year. HyperOS ecosystem, 800V on upper trims, striking coupe silhouette. We're seeing UAE/KSA dealers fighting for allocation. If you're targeting younger affluent buyers in Dubai/Almaty, this is the one.

2. Tesla Model Y (China-built) — Still #1 globally 2023–2025, 425k in China 2025. Safe bet, supercharger network in UAE exists, resale predictable. But margin is tighter because everyone carries it.

3. BYD Seal — e-Platform 3.0, Blade Battery, ~610 km, closest thing to a Model 3 rival at lower landed price. Our Guangzhou floor favorite for Middle East first-time Chinese EV buyers.

4. Zeekr 7X — 800V, 75 kWh, fast charge 10–80% in ~15 min, European-grade finish. Geely's premium play, working well in UAE.

5.  Fangchengbao Titanium 3 (BYD off-road sub-brand) — boxy, Land Cruiser vibes, 501 km CLTC, Jan 2026 alone 21,581 units domestic. This is the sleeper hit for Saudi/Riyadh — boxy = status in Gulf, and it's pure electric. Titanium 3 already weaving through Land Cruisers in Dubai streets.

6. Zeekr 9X — "Hangzhou Bay Cullinan," 900V architecture, pre-selling in UAE at +37% premium over CN price, still sold out. If you're doing premium/GCC luxury channel, this is your margin car. Q3 2026 first overseas deliveries, Middle East first stop.

7. Li Auto i6 — Li Auto's first pure-electric sedan, 98,900 units Jan–May 2026, air suspension, big quiet cabin. Family luxury angle, works for UAE/Central Asia household fleets.

By Region — What Fits Where

Middle East (UAE / Saudi / Qatar / Kuwait)

• Premium SUV/crossover: Zeekr 7X, Zeekr 9X, Fangchengbao Titanium 3, BYD Seal (sedan slot)

• Sport sedan: Xiaomi SU7, Tesla Model 3 

• Wildcard: Yangwang U8 — Saudi royal family bought in, 100+ units ordered by Middle East clients at 2026 Beijing Auto Show. If you have ultra-high-net-worth channel, not a volume play but a logo play. 

Central Asia (Kazakhstan / Uzbekistan / Tajikistan)

• Mix of fleet + private: BYD Seagull / Yuan UP (taxi programs in Dushkabe), Xiaomi SU7 (younger urban Almaty/Tashkent buyers), Model Y (predictable resale) 

• Heat less brutal than Gulf, so GCC kit less critical, but dust sealing still matters

North Africa (Egypt / Morocco)

• BYD Seagull, Wuling MINIEV (right-hand for Morocco) — urban ride-hail, cheap entry

• BYD Han EV, Xiaomi SU7 — Cairo/Alexandria premium

• Morocco is LHD like Europe, good gateway to West Africa
